The dunes
Walk out onto the red sand in the late afternoon and stay for the sunset. The colour changes by the minute.
Red dunes, camel thorn trees and a horizon that runs in every direction. Two small cabins, and nobody else.
Munyu is the Schoeman family farm in the Namibian Kalahari. We built two cabins here for people who want space and quiet: a place to cook your own meals, walk the dunes, watch the game come past and sit outside long after the sun goes down.
There is no programme to follow. Light the braai, pour a glass of something cold and let the evening arrive.
Both cabins share the same layout: an open bedroom with a kitchenette, an en-suite bathroom, a covered stoep that looks straight out onto the veld, and your own pool and outdoor shower. Both run entirely on solar power.

Each cabin has its own outdoor shower behind a reed screen, beside your private pool. Rinse off the red sand after a walk on the dunes with nothing above you but branches and sky.
The cabins run entirely on solar power, so the quiet out here is real.

Sable antelope graze between the camel thorns, often within sight of the cabins. A drive across the farm shows you the land and the animals that live on it.

From the top of the red dune the Kalahari runs flat to the horizon. Light a fire, and watch the sun break through the clouds as it sets.
Sable and springbok live freely on the farm. These clips were filmed a short walk from the cabins.
Every evening the sky puts on a different show.

There are no city lights for a long way in any direction. On a clear night the Milky Way stretches from one side of the sky to the other.
Bring a blanket out to the stoep or walk a few minutes from the cabin into the dark. Your eyes adjust and the stars keep coming.

Munyu is our home, and we'd like it to feel a little like yours while you're here.
We've spent more than twenty years helping travellers find their way around Namibia through Aloe 4x4 Car Hire. The cabins are our way of sharing the place we love most.
Ask us about the farm, the animals or the best dune for sunset. If we can arrange it, we will.

Our farm team keeps the cabins ready and the farm running. Tobias, our farm manager, leads the team and knows every corner of Munyu. You'll meet them during your stay.
Earlier arrival can be arranged. Just let us know.
Want to stay longer? Ask us and we'll do our best.
Bring your own food. The kitchenette has a fridge, microwave and coffee station, and there is a braai outside.
The nearest town is a long drive away, so firewood, ice and braai packs are for sale on the farm.
Rates and availability are on each booking site. Pick the one you already use.
Hertie and Surita Schoeman, who own Munyu, started Aloe 4x4 Car Hire in Windhoek in 2005. Two decades later they still look after every Toyota Hilux themselves, and they know the roads to the farm better than anyone.
Munyu sits in the Kalahari, south of Windhoek. We'll send detailed directions once you've booked.
